To comprehend the meaning of our lives and life in general is in fact the most innate desire for humans that truly care about themselves and others. Understanding the value of life is a major part of understanding its meaning.”

Most of you have never seen an atom, nor do you have an in-depth understanding of nuclear physics, but most, if not all of you, believe the world is made up of atomic matter and energy. Anyone believe otherwise?” Jonah paused for another moment.

Lewis wrote in The Screwtape Letters, ‘Humans are amphibians...half spirit and half animal...as spirits they belong to the eternal world, but as animals they inhabit time.’ What do you think he meant by this statement?' He could see many of the students thinking over what he just asked. There was a genuine interest emanating from the body of the class.
'Perhaps as humans there is a part of our being that centers on the eternal, while another part is anchored to this physical world of space and time in a constant state of change and sometimes conflict.'
'We can begin to understand our amphibian nature when we recognize that there’s more to our being than the physical awareness of our being, that we are more than the total of our neurons and synapses, that the prime truth of all truths is that within each of us an eternal spirit resides.
